Poetry: If I ruled the world

by Deborah Steinmetz

Created on: August 26, 2007

If I ruled the world
you'd find no homeless in my lands
The waters would be clean, blue-green
and on my beaches, pure white sands.

There'd be no room for hatred
nor discrimination of any kind
Respect and love and peace would rule
No 'controlling' of human minds.

Money would not be a source
to motivate you see.
But concern for the welfare of all
is what the motivation would have to be.

No child left to go hungry.
No parent left to 'parent' alone
without support, and proper care
and all would have a home.

You'd find no wars within my borders
No blood shed in vain
And If I ruled the world like this
In peace and harmony we'd remain.
