Commentary: Nicole Richie and her 82 minutes in jail

What is the point of this? To get a real grasp on how short 82 minutes really is these are ways I've spent 82 minutes.

1. I've spent 82 minutes helping my child with Algebra.
2. I"ve spent 82 minutes shopping at Wal-mart.
3. I've spent 82 minutes teaching high school students about Beowulf.
4. I've spent 82 minutes taking care of a kid with the flu and scrubbing chunks off the bathroom wall.

5. I've spent 82 minutes watching a Disney movie for the 100th time.
6. I've spent 82 minutes peeling wallpaper off a living room wall.
7. I've spent 82 minutes on the phone with technical support for my computer.
8. I've spent 82 minutes in same room as my husband as he flips through every channel on cable until I finally have to scream, "Please pick something!".
9. I've spent 82 minutes at my wedding as the priest thought he was tying the knot real good with an extra long sermon.
10. I've spent 82 minutes at the vet's office trying to save an injured pet.
11. I've spent 82 minutes washing windows in my house.
12. I've spent 82 minutes watching a high school football team lose 52-0.
13. I've spent 82 minutes driving my child to college as we listen to Rap music.
14. I've spent 82 minutes pushing when I delivered my first child.
15. I've even spent 82 minutes writing an article for Helium.

And each and every one of those 82 minutes was more painful than Nicole Richie's pointless and pathetic excuse for a prison sentence. I've had manicures that lasted longer than her sentence. Couldn't there be something more worthwhile that she could have gotten for a punishment than that? This was a complete farce as far as I'm concerned. I hope they gave her some milk and cookies while they were at it, because this wasn't anything more than a child's time-out.
