Maybe this is just me, but a Star Trek Movie about Kirk and Spock, WITHOUT Shatner and Nimoy, is just going to SUCK! I will go see it when it comes out, as I have been a Life-Long Star Trek fan-still collect items related to it today-am even buying a Co-worker's "Next Generation" VHS Collection-at a rate of 4 tapes a month.
It is'nt enough that I felt Next Generation "Laid an Egg" with "Nemesis", now, INSTEAD Of using the wonder of Hollywood Makeup to turn Shatner and Nimoy into younger versions of themselves for this movie, we start looking elsewhere. As far as I am concerned, as long as the two of them are alive, and physically able to play the roles-and there are Star Trek Movies to be made, that have Kirk or Spock,(or both) in ANY Part of them, any substitutions should be expressly Forbidden.
It is my hope that Shatner, Nimoy, Takei, Koenig, and Nichols (RIP James Doohan), will continue to "Live Long......And Prosper!"
I am also surprised that we have NEVER Seen a Motion Picture of "DS9","Voyager", or even "Enterprise", and think that we are definitely doe to see them on the "Big Screen" In regard to Star Trek XI-I do hope, despite it's Lack Of Nimoy,Shatner and Crew, that it will bring about a resurgence of lots of original Star Trek TV and Movie, as well as Next Generation, DS9,Voyager, and Enterprise collectibles, the way the newer Star Wars movies (which I also did not enjoy, after Episode I-just too loyal to the Original Trilogy, I guess), has done for Star Wars Collectibles.
While I'm on the Subject-I will say that the 1980's Battlestar Galactica, and "Galactica 1980" Series' still RULE-The Sci-Fi Channel's So-Called Battlestar Galactica Series is total TRASH-Even had the chance to tell that to Richard Hatch-who was my guest by-phone on a Part-Time Radio show I used to host.
