Muslim extremism has certainly changed travel in the world. From September 11 on, the happy go lucky traveler has been eliminated from the world. As a person who was once one of the happy go lucky travelers, I resent the new mode of travel forced on me. Where once I would decide I wanted to go to Europe, and pack a bag and go- now I must check to be sure my travel arrangements will include help if there is any kind of disturbance or riot caused by any terrorist activity. In addition, my packing must now exclude anything that might be considered dangerous and the amount of personal hygiene products I carry has to be limited. No matter if you are traveling in your native country or not, you will be subjected to long lines of security check points as well as occasionally having to undergo a random personal check including a pat down. I dislike having my freedom tainted by the extremists. I would like to see my children and grandchildren be able to travel freely and without so much worry about a possible attack. Just when the world was on the verge of shrinking with people enjoying travel to so many different countries and experiencing so many different cultures thru data gleaned from the Internet, we were awakened to a new and frightening world, the world where extremism and terrorism supersedes the rights and privileges of the rest of the world population.
