Elizabeth I was the Queen of England during an era of weakness. After the failed throne of her step sister Mary, she became a dominant leader in her years never marrying. The reasons for her success were as follows:
Joint-Stock companies became popular during her reign , Wool being high demand in the market, England had plenty of it to sell and other precious metals. England produced many commodities and eventually challenged the Spanish power with their new fleet.
Another thing that made England rich was the quest of privateering. Pirates capturing treasure ships from the Spanish. Francis Drake was the most famous privateer. He was not just a simple pirate because he did it for the crown. He had secret permission of the government to attack spanish ships. Queen Elizabeth I invested a lot of money on him.
In 1588 the Spanish Armada invaded England but failed. Their ships were old and were destroyed by storms.
