Community college is a better way to start your college studies. It gives you the chance to grow into the college role. Many students don't know what they want to do in college. Undecided or undeclared major fills the line on the major section. Choosing a community college will pay its dividends in the future.

When you start off in a community college, you save money. The tuition and fees are less expensive than that of their university counterpart. Campus and health fees are ridiculous. The tuition and fees may cost you between $250-500 per quarter versus $3000 for a university. If you're an independent student, take the community college route.

Independent students like myself discovered good eduction in a community college. The film program that I attended was one of the best in the state. Most of the teachers were alumni of UCLA and USC. One teacher was the first to publish literature for screenwriting regarding the scenario process in the silent era. Instructors cared about my career goals and help build confidence in the journey that it would take to get there. Since I already knew what I wanted to do way back, other students can take the time to decide whether to follow one career path or go on another. The statistics are good for transfer students to enter universities.

Community colleges can compete at a level equivalent to universities. Instructors are equipped to challenge opinions, offer suggestions and direct students to the right career path. I hold much respect for community colleges. In universities, some instructors are narrow minded. Don't get me wrong, university instructors are extremely intelligent, but sometimes think that they are always right. Students offer good suggestions as they make clear and concise opinions.

If you can't get accepted, can't afford or not ready for the trenches of universities, prepare yourself in community college. They offer a great, valuable and affordable education. You will not lose any ground because when you transfer, you will be at the equivalent level as other students that decided to make the early jump into university. Good luck on your decision. Outweigh the pros and cons.
