Why gun ownership should be legal

Upon becoming chancellor of Germany in 1933, Adolf Hitler began seizing guns from his political opponents. Within the year through Kristallnacht (the Night
of the Broken Glass) all Jews were disarmed in a massive sweep to neutralize his percieved 'inferior race,' later claiming; 'History shows that all
conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms

have prepared their own downfall by so doing.'
To say that the American government would attempt to disarm then slaughter it's citizens is a fantastically far fetched notion. Yet it is bone chilling to think about a powerful government which has been increasingly involved in the day to day activities of it's citizens since the 1930s to want to disarm us. Guns are dangerous but they are fundamentally tied with independence, especially in our country which began as a consequence of a revolution. To outlaw guns would leave Americans without our last stand of independence. We must have guns so if one day our form of government becomes destructive in its sole purpose to allow our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness unfettered we may protect our unalienable rights from power hungry fools as our forefathers did. The issue may be a dirty thought, fervent with fanatics on both sides of the issue but do not let the dreams of a violence free utopia take you from your reason and unalienable right to be an independent citizen of a brilliant yet imperfect united states. Complacency has ruined many a country with just as much trust vested in their government's job of ruling their lives.
