Biographies: Alexander Grothendieck

HIS BIOGRAPHY:
Alexander Grothendieck was born in berlin, Germany in the year 1928. He is one of the most important mathematicians of the twentieth century. His approach is beyond belief and his achievments through a short span of life are extraordinary. In the mathematical feilds like homological algebra, algebraic geometry and functional analysis, he has made very prominent and vivid contributions. And aparently his work and contribution didnot go to waste, he was awarded the Fields Medal in 1966 and also was awarded the the Crafoord Prize in in 1988. He is and always will be remembered for his perfectionism in presentation and other abstract approches in mathematical fields. After the year 1960, much of his work was stopped publishing. He withdrwed from mathematics at the age of 42.

DETAIL OF BIoGRAPHICAL ACCOUNTS:
He was born to a Russian jewish father and a protestant mother of Berlin. much of childhood was spent on world war II. He used to stay with his father

Grothendieck's radical left-wing and pacifist politics were doubtless born by his family history and his wartime experiences. He gave many lectures on category theory in the forests surrounding Hanoi while the city was being bombed, to protest against the Vietnam war. He retired from scientific life around 1970, after having discovered the partly military funding of IHES . He returned to academia a few years later as a professor at the University of Montpellier, where he stayed until his retirement in 1988. His criticisms of the scientific community are also contained in a letter written in 1988, in which he states the reasons for his refusal of the Crafoord Prize.

HIS RETIREMENT:
In the year 1991, he left his home and disappeared. Rumours suggest many things. There are al kinds of false scandels about him. Some say he is now living in south of france. He meets no visitors.
