You, sir! Try 'er out! She's a beaut, eh? Feel the weight on that baby! "Well...It sure is a nice weapon, but do I really need a rocket launcher to defend my home from intruders?"
The Patriot act, I like to think, was not designed to undermine the rights of citizens. As with using heavy weapons to defend one's home against intruders, however, is there really a need for all that overkill when you can get the job done with a shotgun?
The problem with the Patriot Act is the wording. It could be designed to do what it's supposed to do without the added bonus strength that begins to infringe on freedom.
Each new bill sent up should be carefully reviewed for problems like this so that it doesn't keep happening. It should not be so difficult to set up a bill to aid the capture of the fearsome terrorist without taking away Mr.Alibaba who has been an American for ten years and has a family, a job, and pays his taxes. I can accept that lawmakers are anxious to pass a bill because they are scared of terrorists...heh... but let's be honest with ourselves, do we really believe that Mr. Alibaba is so sinister he's simply been laying low for ten years? You really think he doesn't care about his family at all?
