Police should have to submit to a routine drug test, since drugs are illegal. Alcohol, on the other hand is legal. I think driving under the influence of alcohol is another issue to be investigated, whether on duty or not.
Although, police are law enforcers, I am not convinced that they are not all law-abiding citizens. They are not above the law and come in contact with loads of confiscated drugs. I am sure bank video cameras are set up not only to capture potential crime, but the tellers daily activity. Why should any person in law have a problem with a random check, if they are innocent?
We have seen over the years that even persons of the cloth do not necessarily practice what they preach. Police officers should make an example to the public and grab a random plastic cup. The reality is that we are all guilty, until proved innocent.
