The hard work in a relationship does not end with the words "I do". The feeling of being loved, respected, and cherished must be maintained by both parties in a marriage. For something to be considered romantic, it needs to portray your feelings to your partner on a physical or an emotional level. It keeps the relationship invigorating and new. When romance begins to decrease, the couple begins to grow apart from each other.
Plan romantic activities that show your partner that you are in love and find them attractive. Choosing activities that match your spouses interests. Try a quiet candlelight dinner with your favorite love songs playing in the background. Follow it up with some wine and quiet conversation. If your spouse enjoys the outdoors, try a hike and a picnic. When your spouse looks tired and stressed, a warm bubble bath and a favorite treat might be just what he or she needed. Buy them an outfit that makes them feel good about themselves and go out for a night on the town.
On an emotional level, romantic deeds need to make your partner feel important and supported. Your partner wants to know that someone understands him or her and is willing to listen. Giving attention to your spouse's emotional needs not only helps him or her get through things, but it builds confidence and shows support. Take time each day to tell your partner you love them. Write a little poem, sing them a song, or just say thank you for the little things they have done throughout the day. Also, never underestimate the importance of the words "I love you". No matter how long you have been together, it is reassuring for your partner to hear.
A simple touch can relay many feelings between two people. Touching your partners face or are and make eye contact when the two of you are sitting together. This shows your love to your partner. It also tells your partner that you are thinking of them.
Spontaneity and insight can increase and maintain romance in a relationship. The more effort put into romance, the more he or she will appreciate the deed. The timing of romance is also very important. For example, you come home from work and your spouse is making supper, talking on the phone, and helping the children with their homework. It would probably not be a good time to inform him or her that you made reservations for dinner in a half an hour. Romance gives your partner the chance for a break from everyday life.
Romance does not need to be extravagant. It only needs to show your partner that you are thinking of them and demonstrate how you feel. Show romance and interest frequently. Romantic and loving activities give each other joy as well as making your partner feel loved and important.
