Illegal immigrants are immigrants who have already demonstrated a complete disregard for our country's laws by entering illegally or staying illegally beyond their visa. Such blatant disregard for our laws should not be rewarded with opportunity for a future amnesty or future naturalization.

Legal immigration in our country is a tightly controlled process that intentionally limits prospective immigrants to those who offer potentially productive members to our society. We have more than enough unproductive members. They mostly reside in our prisons and jails. We have little need for more of those.

For the immigration process to work, correctly, immigration laws need to be enforced. Employers who hire illegal immigrants need to suffer serious penalties and criminal sanctions. Right now such punishments are not be meted out and the result is the mess we have acquired.

There have already been several amnesty and amnesty like immigration "reforms" in the past. They do not work. Rewarding people for violating our laws offers them positive reinforcement to continue doing so. The results should have been obvious. Politically it often sounds good to pass that sort of law because the many newly naturalized citizens also become voters but in the end it is bad for America. We have no need for the large amounts of unskilled labor that pour across our borders. It needs to come to an end.

Additionally we have the issues brought about by September 11th. Illegal immigrants coming to our country and staying in our country create security issues as well. Several of the terrorists involved in that disaster were "illegal" in that they had overstayed their visa. Serious enforcement of our immigration laws might have prevented some of those individuals from being in the country at that time. Enforcement of our immigration laws needs to be taken seriously and those who violate need to be detained, imprisoned and deported with no exceptions and with no chance for future immigration to America. Those who wish to go through the process legally should return home now and apply from there before they are found and deported.
