What does "Going Green" mean? Going Green is the revolutionary act of making changes in your everyday lifestyle that help to counteract environmentally damaging factors that contribute to the declining health of our Earth.

There are many things you can do to go Green, some at a cost, but most of them save you money! The basic foundation for going Green is an old one: REDUCE, REUSE, and RECYCLE! If you have a garden in your home, nix the chemical pesticides and switch to Mother Nature's pest controllerslady bugs! Compost can be made by collecting organic scraps from your kitchen and applying it to the soil helps retain water which cuts back on the amount of watering needed, saving money on the water bill! For those of us on the go it's as simple as investing in a good quality travel mug rather than drinking coffee from a paper cup! Hand washing delicates, rather than dry cleaning them helps. When you do laundry at home make sure you are washing FULL loads, this can save you money, overall water usage, and time that can be spent with loved ones. Whenever possible you should use public transportation, ride a bicycle, or walk, this helps you get daily exercise and reduces emissions in the air! Using vinegar and water to clean countertops and mirrors works just like most household cleaners. If you worry about the smell there are some Green cleaning products out there made from all natural ingredients that are safer for the environment and children. Boiling cinnamon, cloves or any other fragrant herbs will last longer than store bought products. Baking soda absorbs odors and makes a great cleanser For those who have a little money to spend on Greening their lives, try buying energy saving light bulbs, they last longer for a few dollars more!

When you add it up, Going Green starts to sound more like simplifying your life rather than complicating it, and why shouldn't it? You can even take the savings from your Green revolution and buy a picnic basket to take your loved ones to the park on the day you used to spend laboring over half loads of laundry!
