nullifying their threat. Quote one of their sentences then sneer, shake your head and smile with derision. Look around at any others within earshot, shake your head again and mutter, "Nonsense, complete nonsense," then walk away, smiling as you go. You have never heard anything so stupid and it's not worth talking any more. There is a good chance the crowd will side with you, as your contemptuous refutation lends you an air of authority. Your once confident opponent, on the other hand, will be left looking rather foolish, however right he was. It's always easier to demolish an argument than to make it. On the occasions when you are found out by everyone and there's no talking your way out of it the best thing to do is run and don't stop until you're far far away. Live to trick another day.
So, there you have just a few pointers to get you started. Confidence, a gift of the gab (an ability to make nonsense sound profound) and a tendency for self-delusion are the main skills you need to develop. But when all is said and done, being smart isn't everything in this world. They say that the dumber someone is, the happier he is. Being smart will ultimately lead us down one path and one path only: The path of realization that we are all ultimately stupid. The day we bit the apple was the day we bid farewell to peace, happiness and absolute knowledge. Ever since, we've just played at knowing, when in reality we don't know 'nothin'. Sometimes the best way to live is to let the blowhards blow and retire to a quiet place to drink beer and think of very little. It's a sort of Homer Simpson heaven and it sounds kinda pleasant.
