It's the first day of school and your little one is dressed for success right, your heart is in your throat with separation anxiety he's seen his big brother ride the bus and has his heart set on taking that giant yellow rectangle to school. You check his bag to make sure everything is there that is supposed to be and the rubber snakes and fake dog doo are not {LOL}! You tell your little one that he needs to stay seated on the bus and listen to what the bus driver says then you give him a BIG hug and kiss and then he says mom the bus in coming you really need to let go now. You wipe the tear away from your cheek and tell him you love him "I know mom I love you too, see you later mom". Then you go out to the bus stop and the big yellow bus comes to a stop and the huge doors open a big smiling face sits in the drivers seat and said " hi you must be riding the bus today come on in and pick a seat" Your son starts up the stairs and turns with a smile don't worry mom it will be fine and turns picks the seat that he wants and waves out the window at you. Now what do you do? Well I hopped in my car and followed that bus to every stop until it arrived at school and unloaded all the kids. My son looked up at me as he stepped off the bus will a look of astonishment and states " how did you get here so quick?" One more hug and settled into the classroom he's ready and a quick wave good bye. Safe and sound I think it's harder for parents to have a child ride the bus than it is for a child to prepare for the ride.
