How to lose weight after menopause

If you are one of those people who gain weight even if you watch someone else eat, then menopause is just another excuse for your body to tilt your weigh scales onto a bigger number. Menopause can be a roller coaster of sorts for women, emotionally and physically.

The physical changes to your body and the emotional stress that come with it are enough to combat with and then the added stress of realizing that you are packing on pounds. There is no need to panic. With a sensible diet and a well regulated exercise plan things do not have to look so bleak for you.

Dealing with menopause should be about the right attitude. If you are approaching it then start preparing ahead, if you are already going through it then it is never too late to start making those small changes, that can ensure an easy transition. With age everyone male or female tend to have slower metabolic rates which is the cause for most of the weight gain. Menopause triggers hormonal changes in women that add to this trouble.

Try changing your diet, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Think in terms of portion sizes and what you are putting into your body. "As you sow so you reap". Stay away from those creamy delights and those white flour products that can only end up in adding to your misery. Indulge in yourself once in a while but don't make it a habit. Try and eat sensibly with organically grown products, use lean cut meats, fill your meals with soups and salads, experiment with healthy cooking methods and most of all don't starve yourself. If you starve you will only end up binging.

Once you are making headway in your diet then it might be good to start thinking of a healthy exercise routine to supplement it. Little things like a half hour walk in the evening around the neighborhood, a stroll in the park, or if you are up to it then a little visit, say a couple of days a week, to the gym are all part of the plan.

Finally no amount of emphasis can be laid on the fact that you should approach this natural biological change with the right attitude and take it in your stride. Menopause does not have to be so emotionally and physically consuming that you cannot enjoy life.

I have often heard and felt that a woman who matures gracefully looks more beautiful during these years than when she was young. Take that as a cue and Am sure you will be fine.
