Driving is a privilege and should not be taken for granted. If a teen thinks they are mature enough to drive and to take on all the responsibilities of driving, then they should be liable for paying the premium as well. A parent is not teaching their child anything by paying for the premium. They will learn to respect the way they drive, the vehicle they are driving and the maintenance involved in keeping a car on the road if they are paying there own way. If they cannot pay for the insurance premiums and the up keep of the vehicle then they should not be driving, take the transit until you can get a part-time or full-time job and PAY YOUR OWN WAY. I am an insurance broker in Ontario Canada and I see it all the time, parents letting their children get licensed and then when you tell them the premium they freak, well why did you let them get licensed and further more why are you paying for the premium. I can see if a child if a full-time university or college student and they have no time to work at all, under those circumstances then sure help them out because they are taking the steps in furthering their studies to better themselves. Parents in general are spoiling our kids, they are our future and handing them everything is not preparing them for the real world....
