Back in early 2005, my friend had recently finished her holistic studies at a nearby college and had started renting a room in a local beauty treatment salon ran by two young women who my friend had met during her studies.
As the months went by, as she gained a good reputation as an effective, caring, sensitive therapist, she began to feel somewhat unease about the running of the business. Some of the practices by one of these partners she felt were somewhat dubious, and she was somewhat unsure if she would remain at the salon. Eventually she decided to give it some more time before coming to a decision.

She reported the crime to the police, and two detectives arrived quickly. My friend and I made video statements, and a few days later the police raided both the business premises and the home of the owner.
When the police presented the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, there was insufficient evidence to bring a successful prosecution due to several factors. For example, the amount of time that had elapsed before my friend had made her statement, the discrepancies between dates of our recollection of the collection of evidential and those of the police. This meant any forensic evidence that could have been recoverable was apparently lost and that my friend had reported that several
