Desperation grips me like a vise,
Trying to avoid this awful demise.
The panic swells in deep waves,
Trapped, helpless, crawling in caves.
Far back in my mind I know there is hope,
But the light cannot shine in a broad enough scope.
So many tears, falling unheeded,
Alone. Lost. Significantly uneeded.
Seeking nothing more than a way through the pain,
Knowing the ultimate sacrifice will bring no gain.
Tossing and turning, laying in bed ...
Praying for hope to drown out the dread.
