There are many films full of violence. Many of the films made in the 1980's and before had violence, but the killing and shooting seemed so fake and almost comical. I mean I fully enjoy "Commando", " Rambo", " Die Hard" and the many other action, violent movies, but they don't come off as gross or sadistic. Here is my list of the most violent movies ever made. Take into consideration that I'm judging these by realistic violence.
My first choice is "Saving Private Ryan". This was not even close to being the best World War 2 movie. Most of the violence came in the first 45 minutes. The storming of Normandy was brutal, bloody, disgusting, and so realistic that I felt like I was on the beach with them, getting shot and blown apart. When you leave the theater, you know and feel exactly what those men felt 60 years before.
My second movie is " Good Fellas". The whole movie is not based around violence, but there is plenty to go around. Our main violent man is the loose cannon, Tommy, played by Joe Pesci. Tommy is a man filled with pure hatred. Every where he goes violence follows. At one point in the movie, he shoots a young kid for talking back to him. Earlier in the movie, a made man named Billy Bats, teases him about his days as a shoe shine boy. Tommy walks off, pretends to leave, then comes back, pistol whipping Billy, then shoots him, and finally stabs in the trunk of his car with a butcher knife. All together this movie is filled with violence, real and disturbing.
My third and last choice is " Flags of our Fathers." I know countless people who walked out, before the movie was over because they could not stand to watch the extreme, brutal, realistic violence through out the whole movie.
Those are my top three. I know there are many others just as violent. These three were all over the top.
