The 'force draw shot' is wild yet controlled. It is the ability to place an enormous spin onto the cue ball, which when making contact with the object ball, comes back towards you, rather than being stopped in it's tracks. The technique and skills of this shot include:
A good balance.
A good stance with fluid movement of the shooting arm and body
A good bridge
Power and speed
To feel comfortable.
First of all, you need to aline your body to hit the cue ball low on it's surface for draw. You will also need to have the powerful action of spinning the cue ball backwards after impact.
To do this, put your left foot forward to give support, as you lean over the table in preparation to shoot the ball. Your body weight should be mainly on your left leg, which should now be slightly bent and your other leg should be straight.
Your head should be kept quite low and close to the 'cue' stick, in order that you are looking down it. Your chin should be between 6 and 12 inches from the cue and needs to feel comfortable.
Your grip on the cue stick should be firm, but relaxed in preparation for this shot. Your arm should be stretched out straight and perpendicular to the table.
Your bridge, or the shape of the hand, should be 5-8 inches away from the cue ball. You need to spread your fingers and thumb out on the table. Next, lift your palm up while keeping the tips of your fingers and the heel of your hand on the table. Press your thumb to your forefinger. This will make a V shape in which the cue will sit.
You are now ready to take the 'force draw shot'. Remember to put as much motion as possible into this shot, to spin the ball backwards with power. The movement of your body should be behind the shot and move with it. This is different to the normal shots in pool, where your body stays still and only your shooting arm moves.
First, draw the cue stick back while creating tension, then move it forward with speed. The impact of it's rush into the cue ball will create a great deal of 'draw' spin. The cue ball will hit the coloured ball and then spin fearsly backwards after impact. It will return to the long rail during this aggressive force draw shot.
