Words have power. We who were made in God's image should take note;God spoke and things came into existence. Therefore as His creation we to have been given the same authority. When I was a child all I heard was how stupid I was. So naturally I began forming a negative view of myself. One day when I was in the tenth grade,it suddenly dawned on me that I was no less than the kids I went to school with. I stood in front of my mirror and I spoke to myself and said,"I am just as good as everybody else!" From that day on,I would do that and pretty soon my own positive words began to over power the negative insults from my family.

Word have power to create or destroy.My oldest sister gave me a tremendous gift. After I left my uncle's house I was under the impression that I would never amount to much because my uncle let me know everyday of my life that girls aren't allowed to do too much;for those of you who know about Latin machismo,that should tell you how I grew up without me having to delve into that. So my dear sister got in my face when I was nineteen and told me to stop behaving like an airhead. She reminded me that I was no longer under my uncle's thumb and commanded me to start using my brain. So her affirmative words took away the sting of my uncle's put downs. To this day thanks to my sister, I know that I can accomplish anything I set my mind on. My uncle's words were meant to tear me down and my sister's words came in built me up and helped me grasp the true me.

Words will determine the quality of your life right now and in the future. God's Word teaches that we should take extra care in the words we speak;by our own careless word we will be judged and by those very same words we will be condemned.I have someone in my life that just spews out whatever is in his head.Then he wonders why things turn out or don't turn out. We can be our own worst enemy and one of the tools we use to defeat ourselves is our tongue. I forbid my children to say negative things about themselves. It's difficult enough being human;we need to be our own best friend and at the very least bless ourselves with our words instead of offending ourselves with negative,self defeating words.

The spoken word has the potential to give life or bring about death.Jesus went to heal a little girl whom everyone had given up for dead. The Healer came in and said she was just sleeping. Before He prayed He sent all the unbelievers away. Why? Because He knew their lack of trust (faith) would
