I found myself saying 'No' to this as it really comes down to the time and effort you can put into it and as most people already have day jobs there isn't always a lot of spare time, so some people may do very well out of it and some not so well. The biggest problem with surveys and other websites is the time it takes to complete surveys, click e mails, write articles, play games etc. Some pay 50p for 10 minute surveys others pay 2.00 for 30 minutes so, e mails pay a tiny amount and are very time consuming, articles can add up but on some sites you need to get 1000 views to earn just a small amount and the money you can earn from playing games can vary quite dramatically from site to site. You can earn an additional income but when you work out what you can earn an hour it probably won't add up to minimum wage but it will give you some extra cash which you can use to pay your bills etc.
The other problem is earning opportunities can be quite infrequent so it isn't money you can depend on. It's not guaranteed until you've been paid so you can't rely on it as income but you will find companies that you know you can depend of and you know are good payers and these can provide some regular extra money. That's the other reason I say you can't rely on online work to pay your bills, you don't know how good the company is or if you are going to spend hours and not get anything in return. Before signing up for anything always do a search and find out what other people are saying tolessen your chances of this happening to you.
Some people do very well by recruiting other people onto survey sites, games sites and e mails and but this again is timeconsuming and won't always provide a regular income
.
If you are looking for better paid work, Focus groups are often quite profitable, pay for these can be 30-50 pounds but again work isn't regular, They also sometimes pay bonuses if you introduce other people which can be quite rewarding. If you are in the UK, try Saros Research and Yahoo in the States. Other options you can try include Freelance Work, a site like Elance offer regular, well paid work and you'd do better to look at sites like these first which will give you an additional, regular income.
In summary I would have to say that surveys etc can give you some extra cash but it's by no means regular and you can't depend on it. None of the money you can earn is guaranteed and you can't bank on it covering the bills.
