Disgraced District Attorney Mike Nifong should get a taste of what he was willing to do to innocent men. History is full of examples of people being unjustly tried, imprisoned, and on many occasions being put to death in order to serve a political view, or religious ideology. The only chance these people had was the wisdom, fairness, and judgment of a man charged with releasing the innocent and punishing the guilty. It is one thing when the prosecuting attorney has no idea whether the charged party is innocent, or guilty, but when the man prosecuting the case suppresses information that exonerates the accused, then we have an injustice which is intolerable in the United States.

It is my belief that if any man were responsible for knowingly sending an innocent man to prison, or even to his death, then that man should take the punishment that was intended for the wrongly accused, that is called justice. A the time District Attorney Nifong was going through a tough re-election campaign and was doing poorly in the polls, especially among African-Americans. He needed a case that would be covered heavily by the media so that he could shore up support among the community. Lo and behold here comes an allegation of rape of a poor African-American female against a bunch of so called rich college boys. Nifong made sure that he publicized this trial so as to et the media coverage he had been determined to get. Unfortunately for him, he received more media attention than he had planned for and soon found himself under way too much scrutiny, but it was too late to back down then. He had already managed to polarize the community along racial lines and managed to win his re-election bid. But it was all to no avail.

In my opinion this is a dirty guy. Who knows how many other cases he tried and how many innocent people he sent to prison just so that he could bolster his prosecutorial record. Shame on this man and I sincerely hope that if he does not go to prison, that he will never be given a position of power over any other individual for as long as he lives.
