Scriptures and theology in Hinduism

The scriptures in Hinduism are based on spiritual laws that were from different people at different times in its history.

A way that these Scriptures were hand down was by word of mouth, this was done so that individual could memorize the scriptures themselves. Over time the teachings were refined and the canon that they had was expanded, however the scriptures are not supposed to be taken literally. Instead they are to pay attention to the metaphorical and ethical meanings in the scriptures. The majority of their texts are in Sankrit, which is a classical language of India, and there are two classes one is Shruti, and Smriti. These terms have to do with Vedas which are to Hindus the eternal truths that are reveled to ancient sages. The Vedas are known as laws of the spiritual world and having to do with God and people, by being eternal the laws can be expressed in new ways.

In the Hindi Scripture there are four Vedas, the first Veda is called Rigveda and is known as the most important of the four. Subsequently there are also four parts of the Veda, the first part which is know as the Veda proper contains sacred mantras. The other three parts are Brahmanas which explain the Vedic ritual, and are said to be written between 900 BCE and 500 BCE. The second part is know as the Aranyakas, which are writings that have to do with living in the wilderness. The last part of the Veda is called Upanishads, this part discuses meditation, philosophy, and the nature of God.

In closing though even though different denominations view God in a different sense there is little or no feuds between them.
