"Son, always stand behind your wife." These are some words of wisdom given to my husband by his father the first year of our marriage. I've never heard wiser words before or since. I know that I have never felt more loved than when I feel the solidarity and loyalty given by my husband in a stressful or trying situation. Letting somebody know that they have a soft place to land or a person in their corner to pick them up and dust them off when they fall is a great way to say "I love you."

Sometimes, well most times, simply saying the words is not enough. Words are hollow without the actions to back them up. Saying "I love you" can be the same as saying "The checks in the mail" if you are saying the words without following through. All too often people throw these words around as a means to an end, to get what the want and with no real sentiment behind them. Love and trust go hand in hand and if you cannot step up to the plate and give 100% you will never have the solid foundation needed to truly mean it when you say "I love you."
Truly wanting somebody to know they are loved requires dedication and patience. Never judging or asking question when somebody asks you for help, standing by them in the worst of times, these are all the greatest ways to say "I love you."
