Tips for packing pictures and frames

In the past 7 years I have moved 6 times. Each time I've moved lots of framed pictures. None of them are priceless pieces of art or even very large pieces. They are just your average size frames for average size pictures and documents. Most of them range from 4"x6" to 16"x20". Still, they are glass frames and certain needs to be taken to avoid moving shattered fragments.

The best tip for moving frames, especially for those who move often and can't always afford profession movers or supplies, are towels. Yup, that's it. Everyone's got them, and they have to move with everything else anyway, so use them to wrap your pictures. In a good size towel your can get two or three pictures wrapped. Towels are soft and provide a good amount of cushion. They also won't scratch the frames.
Also, pack the pictures relatively tight. Not so tight that they will crack under pressure, but tight enough that they don't slide and move around. In my experience, that's usually how frames break. They are packed too loosely with no padding and end up hitting something else.
I realize these aren't the most insightful tips, and I'm sure most people have thought of these ideas already, but from my experience of moving a lot, on a limited budget, these are the best tips I can give. Hope they help.
