Like many people, I believe that AAA is worth it because of the peace of mind it provides.
I was driving along a fairly busy road. Suddenly the gas pedal isn't doing anything. It's like I'm in neutral. I step on the gas, the engine revs, but I don't move. Luckily, I'm able to pull off onto a side street before I cause an accident. For those familiar with cars, you've probably guessed that the problem was with my transmission. Just like that, it was shot. I was stranded, miles from my home, and numerous blocks away from any type of garage or tow service.
AAA to the rescue. I flipped open my cell phone and had a tow truck there in 15 minutes. The repairs on my car were expensive, at least for me they were. However, the hassle and pain of the experience was made that much less by the convenience and reliability of AAA. I wasn't stranded. My car wasn't left on the side of the road. I didn't have to pay for the tow truck.
It's not the most dramatic story. Others, I'm sure, can tell much more engaging stories of how they were helped by the services of AAA. So just consider this as another testimonial. As longs as it persuades someone toward the services of AAA, my personal story has done its job.
That was the only time I had to rely on AAA for anything major. I've had them come out occasionally to jump-start my car, and, on one embarrassing occasion, to let me into my car after I locked my keys inside. For the most part however, I haven't had to utilize AAA services except for those few times. However, that's part of the point. It doesn't matter how much or how little you use the service. It doesn't matter what you use the service for, whether its to let you in your car after you lock your keys inside or whether its to tow your totally disabled car to the nearest repair shop, they are always there for you. No matter how big or how small the service you need them to provide, they are at your aid as quickly as possible so that you can get on your way.
