With all that is going wrong in this country right now I can't believe that this issue is still causing such distress. Gays and lesbians are human beings that should be afforded the same rights as every other human being. If the word marriage is going to upset the self righteous so be it...Keep that most sacred word in the upstanding heterosexual world. With such moral examples as Britney Spears, Bill Clinton and a unprecedented skyrocketing divorce rate. I believe gays and lesbians may want to stay clear of that holy most sacred union known as marriage. Civil unions may just be the definition that separates the population of this country by sexual orientation for some,but for others it would mean a freedom that anyone in this country shouldn't still be fighting for. Freedom to live your life without fear that the person your with will have everything ripped out from under them if something happens that incapacitates you or worse. Oh yes you could have a will that all family members are able to contest and hold up everything for months and yes even years. Soldiers dying, children starving and elderly people choosing to buy food or fill their prescriptions in the richest country in the world and people are still trying there damnedest to stop two people in love from uniting with all it's benefits. I'm sure God is shaking his head too and not over his people loving each other.
