How to raise kids that read:
Oh the magnificent joy of reading. The wondrous love children can learn is all in that first wonderful book you bring home for them. Reading is thought in process and learning in waiting.
I do believe that some kids just love to read and others not so much.If parents are not active readers, then they should give the child every opportunity to discover this wonder world before assuming they too may not have an interest. I do believe you should give every child a good start in life and encourage reading books from an early age. If you read they will follow, kids learn what they live.
Try joining them in a library, it is enjoyable and they will learn the skill of respecting books and the silence which people respect in the library itself.
Join them into book clubs they are exciting and challenging for them to enter into competitions and such, and soon enough will show their abilities and skills and if they wish to follow in the enjoyment of the reading of books at all.
I come from a family of knowledge lovers yet not all of us read constantly. I think it is possible to help kids enjoy reading through giving them books which are fun when they are very young and progressing to subjects which take their fancy.
I have a grandson who is almost eighteen months old now and he absolutely loves having stories read and looking at books. I am about to embark on making my own little books with pictures for him.
If you can't find what your looking for in the world today, I say do it yourself.
They may not only appreciate that you made it for them, but may be inclined toward creating their own stories. As they grow, you may see if you have a budding writer on your hands. If you have the flair for children's writing give it a go.
