Should a woman have the right to choose abortion? A woman has rights. That's a given. To choose abortion? For now she does, but should it be a right? Abortion is the terminating of a pregnancy. That's how it is worded when described by pro choice advocates. But, if you break that statement down it really does get to the truth of the matter. Terminating is killing. Pregnancy is being with child. Therefore, abortion is the killing of a child. It doesn't matter how anyone words it, that is what it is. Period.

There are several arguments women on the pro choice side have pertaining to keeping abortion legal. The first is, "my body, my choice." However, it is not your body the term abortion refers to. You may be on the table and they may be your legs in the stirrups, but all you suffer is no different, really, than a miscarriage in terms of physical pain. Later, when you realize the reality of what you've done, emotional pain may play a huge role in your life. Other than that, you really don't go through a lot when you have an abortion. That is a fact that the pro choice advocates should agree with since it is an argument brought up constantly during debate to prove how little a woman suffers after an abortion.

So, why should aboriton be illegal? There is a child being killed. Not just killed, but murdered. You pro choicers may think murdered is too strong of a word, but the child is innocent. It didn't ask to come into being and it didn't "invade" or force the woman and her uterus to be pregnant. She and a man did that on their own. For those of you screaming, "what about rape?" I'll get to that in a minute. This statement of a child being present leads to all kinds of debates over personhood and fetal pain and more.

First, rape. I've been raped. I was date raped at ninteen and then again for a three month period by the front desk man. It was a horrible, self depressing experience. One I would not wish on my worst enemy. I got pregnant by the second rapist in my life. The one question God put in my head was: "can you kill this child for the sins of his father?" No. The obvious answer is no. One woman I debated the other day said a child should not have to reap the fruits of the father. It implied that a child of a rapist would grow up to be a rapist themselves. Wow! They must be psychic to know such things. The knowing was implied in the statement as well.

This knowing applies to the poverty argument among other "bad life" possibilities and uncertainties. But, there
