While the press does influence the U.S. voter, the media certainly does not pick our president. I would gander to say that special interest groups, big corporations and hacked electronic voting machines pick the president.
The various news mediums spin and debate and color their respective party favorites in complimentary hues, however voters apathy for our election system and government are truly responsible for who heads up our country.
In the last two presidential elections alone, the popular vote president was not sworn in to office and known discrepancies with computerized electronic voting machines were merely dismissed. Many Americans were appalled, yet an overwhelming majority of us bickered mercilessly among each other but never made a public outcry of shame.
I would suggest that our readers be more concerned with how our votes are tabulated, where campaign dollars are being generated and to whom; then rally in your local communities for watch dogs and changes to these systems and policies. Pay attention to the debates and hold the candidates and your local congressmen and women accountable. Then and only then will the voice of the people be louder than the influence of the press.
