Should a woman have the right to choose abortion? Well, should a baby have the right to choose to live? I just do not understand why it should be someone's "right" to kill someone else. Abortion is the killing of a completely helpless person, who had no "choice" about being conceived.

The film called "The Silent Scream" says it all. In this film, a camera inserted into the uterus records the abortion of an eleven week old fetus. The baby can be seen trying to move away from the suction device, and as the device find its target, the baby's mouth opens wide in a scream...of agony? Of terror? Probably both.

Somehow, people seem to have learned that a fetus is just a clump of cells until it is near term. A little research will enlighten them to the fact that at the tender age of 5 weeks, a baby's heart is beating. By 8 weeks, the baby is constantly moving, and by 10 weeks, he or she looks like a baby, with tiny finger and toes, and internal organs are formed. At just 12-14 weeks pregnant, a woman can feel the baby moving inside her. His or her tiny fingers have their unique, individual fingerprints. He or she can hear and respond to sound. Just a clump of cells? I beg to differ.

All of this happens in the first trimester of pregnancy, before a woman is "showing". This is when some people feel that abortions are fine, because the fetus is not really a baby yet. Please, take a look at some ultrasound pictures. There is a real, living, human baby in that uterus. I can not comprehend what could possibly make it all right for a woman to be able to choose to have this living baby destroyed.

There are thousands of couples and families out there who would love to have a baby, but are unable to conceive. Adoption is the only choice for many people who want desperately to be parents. A woman who does not want to be a parent need not raise a baby she had conceived. An adoptive family is waiting to love and nurture the unwanted baby. Better yet, many different types of birth control are widely available and easy to use. There are very, very few viable reasons for an accidental pregnancy to happen.

An unborn baby has no rights, nor is it given a choice whether it will live or die...but if it were, what do you think the baby's choice would be?
