Humor: What to do when you're sick

I suppose one might think that there's nothing humorous about sickness but I can think of several times in my life that being sick brought about some chuckles later on. Notice I said later on, as one rarely sees the humor at the time it occurs because you feel so bad! The first story that comes to mind happened about two years ago. I had minor surgery and I was at home in bed recuperating from a bad reaction to anesthesia. I had stitches in my stomach and was having bouts of nausea. I would cramp up, which made the stitches hurt, then I repeatedly had to hop out of bed to throw-up. Lovely, huh?

I was miserable and I thought that absolutely nothing could be worse than what I was already experiencing...I was wrong. As I rolled around in pain, my entire bed, crashed to the floor with me in it! I had a huge sleigh bed and one of the supporting slats broke, causing the collapse. The noise was deafening, and I honestly thought the house had been hit by a a car or some other large object.

My friend that brought me home was downstairs getting me something to drink when the "crash" occurred. He ran up the stairs because he thought I had fallen out of bed. My neighbor, who shares the duplex next door, heard the crash too. Before I knew it, both men were in my bedroom accessing the situation. I was moaning and leaning on the wall for support and I occasionally had to hobble out of the room to throw up.

They debated on what to do with the bed, and finally decided to use duct tape (yes,I know, typical men) to "fix" the broken slat. They had me back in bed within ten minutes. I still felt so sick but I somehow managed to sleep for the next several hours.

When I was finally feeling better, we started to joke about what had happened. Telling jokes like, "If you want two men in your bedroom, all you have to do is..." It felt good to laugh about the unbelievable situation later, but while it was happening, it felt like a nightmare!
