for an action movie.

Fearless
Jet Li's final Wu Shu presentation rich with epic story line and heart-breaking morals and philosophical standards based from true accounts about the westernization of China. The struggles featured in this film and its bitter-sweet resolutions give it an instant classic status for its unique and dramatic qualities for both action and performances. It is actually a prequel for Bruce Lee's fictional story line in "The Chinese connection" with its own twists and turns.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden dragon
Ang Lee presents a generous cinematic quality of uniqueness in the traditions of earlier martial arts films(flying with wires etc.)but potent with uniqueness in its own right with premises and plot lines comparable to that of a Shakespearian tragedies. Chow Yun Fat's debut martial arts film along with very enticing performances of Michelle Yeoh and also Zhang Ziyi's first major budget film.

Project A
Jackie Chan collaborates with Yuen Biao and Marshall Law's Sammo Hung in this action packed hilarious comedy about The Royal Navy and the Royal Police cooperates to bring down a notorious pirate in the early westernization of Hong Kong. This is another film where it will make you wonder if Jackie Chan is human after you witness him fall off a pretty high clock tower and lands on his head on one of the takes! It also features hilarious scenes where Chan pays tribute to his comedic influences with the likes of Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin.

Ong Bak The Thai Warrior
With fight choreographies and Acrobatics/stunts pushed to a higher level from the likes of Jackie Chan and Jet Li, Tony Jaa explodes on film like a nuclear bomb and trembles the ground with enormous after shocks. Never has the true style of Muay Thai fighting has ever been mainly featured and spotlighted until the release of this film. A successor for Jackie Chan and Jet Li has arrived. Chan actually cameoed in Tony Jaa's follow up film "The Protector" as an indication of his passing of the torch.

Kill Bill volume 1-2
Quentin Tarantino finally realized his ultimate tribute for martial arts cinema as he recruited the likes of Yuen Woo Ping for choreography, and Icons like Sonny Chiba, and Gordon Liu. Tragic as similar to his father's fate when his break for superstardom explodes just as quickly as his demise. Rest In Peace, Brandon and Si fu Bruce!
