Keep The Home Fires Burning
Many couples notice that after years of marriage the romance aspect of things starts to diminish. This is generally because of the busyness of life that sometimes becomes overwhelming.
Romance is the key to keep the home fires burning. Therefore, it is important to keep the romance alive throughout the marriage. Romancing your sweetheart doesn't have to cost a lot of money or consist of a lot of planning. A little creativity mixed with a lot of Love and you and your spouse can enjoy romance any time you want.
Date Your Spouse:
My husband and I believe romance is just as important after marriage as was while we were dating. We decided early on that we would continue dating each other throughout the marriage. Sometimes we go on double dates with friends who are also married. Other times we go out just the two of us.
Dating one another gives us an opportunity to enjoy time alone without the pressures of everyday life causing distraction. The easiest way to get back into the swing of dating the one you Love is to remember the things you used to enjoy and start with those. A date doesn't have to be an all day or all night event. It can be just a few hours, the key is to continue to treat your spouse with the love and dedication as you did when you first became sweethearts.
Don't Forget the Little Things:
Sometimes the little things hold a couple together during the hardest times. My husband and I have found those little things also keep the romance alive. We hold hands all the time and put our arms around each other and steal kisses every chance we get.
We go hiking, play Frisbee, go camping, and make it a point to be involved with each other's hobbies and interests. When it's warm outside, we sit outside, look at the sky, and just enjoy the moment of silence just the two of us, forgetting about the cares of everyday life until we go back into the house
We make a point of going for walks together, and playing together every chance we get. Those little things keep the flame burning strong.
Don't Sweat the Small Stuff:
That's right don't let the little annoyances destroy your relationship. Many times spouses do little things that annoy us to no end. However, if we concentrate on those little annoyances they can cause us to miss the small wonderful things in our marriage.
When we concentrate on the small wonderful things, the small annoying things are much easier to live with. If you are having a hard time keeping the romance alive, I suggest remembering the time when you and your spouse were experiencing the newness of your relationship.
Spend Time Together Alone!
Time spent just enjoying each other, without the distraction of thinking about or discussing the jobs, chores, bill, or laundry, will keep the romance alive and going strong.
Make your relationship top priority and your romance will stay hot throughout the years.
