When looking at something like discipline, an account of the player's character and several other related issues will need to be considered such as drug abuse. In the same vein, the other concern is how international sports societies and organizations involved in promoting and staging such competitions like the Olympics and FIFA World Cup are taking measures to prevent drug misuse and the laws they have implemented. While assessing this situation, one must look carefully at the procedures they take to test athletes over things like steroid use and whether these methods are sufficient enough.

Drug abuse is a very serious concern and it is a negative feature that needs to be stamped out. Participants sacrifice their bodies for short term success. This has lead to high mortality rate especially in sports like wrestling and boxing. Sports entertainment shows with the first thing springing to mind being WWE see numerous wrestlers dying before the age of forty-five. When competitors test positive for doping it puts them in a bad light and sheds a suspicion over their previous accomplishments. Runners who have hit world records and won Olympic Gold have found themselves in hot water later casting doubt on their medals.
Further talk about discipline is how athletes can enhance their feats by sticking to regimented schedule and see how this will help keep them at their peak for a long period. Regular indulgence in certain helpful activities or in other words seasonal workouts can help improve an athlete. This allows the specific areas of an athlete's body to be targeted. For a hundred meter runner, sprinting everyday and conditioning the legs by doing exercises such as leg-ups will help his cause. Following a proper diet with the intake of healthy food, a larger portion of protein rich food and energizing liquids is necessary in building up the body for heavy contest. Water being the key element in the body is vital and some physicians recommend 7 to 8 cups a day. The amount of water ingestion depends on the activity. Exercise sees a lot of water being lost due to sweating.
