of the performance. It is amazing what you can do if you try hard enough and, as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

As I said before, the gift does not have to be expensive either. Take the modern computer for example. A couple of Christmases ago, before the day dawned, I spent time on the computer building a special CD. It comprised of my ladies ten favourite love songs. However, I had made this different by putting a message at the start of the CD and, between each track I narrated a poem that I had written, which had the same title and sentiments in it. I printed a label and box cover for the CD and, all in all it cost me less than $10, but it is something that she has cherished ever since. There are an abundance of gift ideas like these that one can create which will not only tell your lady that you love her, but also that you have given a considerable amount of thought to providing her with that special gift.

One of worst thing you can do when giving to your loved one is to make it impersonal. By that I mean the gift should be for her. I do know some men, quite close to me, who will buy their wife something for the kitchen for their birthday. To me this does not show affection and love, rather it tends to give the lady the impression that she is only regarded as a housekeeper and/or mother. Not the most romantic way to show her that she belongs in your heart.

Having put forward all of the other suggestions above I will close by saying that in my view the greatest gift you can give to your lover, your wife, is total and unconditional love in return. That is a gift that she will be able to enjoy through your body language, your words and the closeness of your relationship every day of her life spent with you, to be made to feel special and unique. No material gift can every replace those feelings, only complement them.
