Fight the bad crimes, not the harmless: Legalize prostitution and marijuana

Legalization of both prostitution and marijuana have a lot to be said for them. I don't support either because I think they are good things. I support them because I believe in freedom and personal choice. Prostitution can be degrading and smoking marijuana is detrimental to your health and increases your risk of lung cancer.
That said, it is not my place or the government's place to interfere with other people's business dealings or smoking habits. I don't have any right to tell people they can't smoke tobacco in the privacy of their own homes or if they can drink liquor. Unfortunately, a large portion of our society who don't believe in freedom, feel they should be able to tell others what they can and cannot do, even when it has nothing to do with them.

From a practical standpoint, we all saw how badly a prohibition on alcohol went for society. There is every indication that the so called "war on drugs" is likewise responsible for causing more violent crime than preventing it. There is an organization called LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition). It is composed of police officers and federal agents who believe the prohibition on drugs is detrimental to society and prevents them from being effective police officers.
Similarly, does anyone believe any laws will ever stop prostitution? Does any police agency seriously even try to stop prostitution instead of contain it and keep it discreet? I've never seen it. All the current laws do is make sure the women can't go to the police for help and that the industry is unregulated promoting the transmission of STDs and crimes against women forced into the industry.
What ever happened to an actual belief in freedom in this country, instead of lip service from politicians who spend all their time passing laws to remove freedoms one by one. Freedom means that others are free to make choices that are different from my own or that I may even disagree with. So long as no one is forcing me to smoke marijuana or have sex for money why should I care what other people decide, much less feel I should have to force them to make the same choices I do.
