What wives want from husbands

by MC Allen

Created on: August 17, 2007

My husband and I are about to celebrate our ten-year anniversary. We have been together since we were nineteen and married since we were twenty-five and my wants and needs from my husband have not changed over the last fifteen years. I want my husband to basically be able to read my mind. This sounds slightly high-maintenance I know, but my partner must know me inside and out.

As a woman, I want different things from my partner on different days. There are days that I need a best friend. I want my husband to listen to me and give me advice, to empathize with my problems and support my decisions. Then there are days that I want my husband to leave me alone and let me work through my issues on my own. These are the days that I need space and quiet time to reflect and analyze my own thoughts and feelings.

Another personality trait that I need from my husband is the strong, manly, take charge trait. A lot of woman will say that they want a man that is sensitive and able to cry. Not me! I want my husband to be the strong one in the times of crisis and be able to support me if and when I break down.

Finally, I want my husband to be able just randomly do chores around the house without being asked. If there are dishes in the sink, put them in the dishwasher. If the beds are unmade, make them up. This is a dream world but someday maybe it could become a reality.

Most men have to understand that women are a hotbed of contradictions and never knowing which woman they are going to get on any given day is what keeps those men interested and on their toes. Marriage is the coming together of two people who love each other, to create a life and family. This does not mean that every single moment is sunshine and roses. As a woman, I want everything from my husband all at one time. If you ask a man what he wants from his wife, all he wants is sex three times a week.
