Choosing a resort at Disney World is actually part of the fun. Involve everyone traveling to embrace the whole Disney experience. Check out the Disney official web site to see the room and properties, and look up the Dis.com and mickeysaver.com all very helpful with money and time saving tips.
First determine your length of stay and determine if you want a hotel or " home away from home". Anything longer than five days I say go for the home away from home. You can do laundry and cook, enjoy more than on television and often a balcony with chairs or a nice porch. Once you determine the type of resort think about location. The ages of your travelers and parks they will want to spend the most time at. If Magic Kingdom is your priority stay in a hotel on the monorail. if Epcot is your focus, check out Boardwalk, Yacht or Beach Club, you can walk right into Epcot. If the Animal Kingdom is your favorite park check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge it will not disappoint.
If finances are an issues go right to Allstars, Sports or Music. There is a big savings, but the rooms are much smaller and everything from the pool to the dining option there are crowded. If you are willing to pay a little more choose a moderate hotel, such as The French Quarter or Dixie Landings.
Keep in mind that if you are not on the monorail or Epcot area, the hotels are themed and can set the vibe for your whole vacation. The campground or Wilderness Lodge have that campy feel, but with a little luxury, if I can camp in a wilderness home anyone can, take note, you will want to reserve a golf cart there, definitely. Adults without younger kids or teens may want to check out the hotel pools on line to be sure you can get away from all the younger kids if that stresses you out. Many resorts have two pools, one with slides and kid friendly one more subdued.
If you go often try a different hotel each trip, it is always refreshing and enjoyable. just do you research ahead of time to get the best room for the best price in a location most feasible to your need and where you want to spend the majority of your time. I find the planning of Disney trips very enjoyable. i always include my daughters in making a request of where we go or a favorite restaurant to keep everyone smiling. Tell Mickey I said hi and have a great time!
