Trimspa may be best recognized, not for its dietary innovations, but for the simple fact that the late Anna Nicole Smith became its official spokesperson. Trimspa is marketed by Goen Technologies, and is a dietary supplement, specifically a diet pill that contains 15 calories a serving and 4 grams of carbs. It contains no saturated or trans fat. There is also a new chewable diet pill that contains 260 mg of Hoodia gordonii cocoa blend and tastes like chocolate. In 2006 they also introduced a fruit-based bar called Froodia containing 400 mg. The company proudly calls their products "sinfully delicious."

The primary ingredient in Trimspa is Hoodia gordonii and it is an African succulent plant. This plant has been used over the centuries by the San Tribesman to nourish their hunger on long hunting expeditions. The makers of Trimspa realized this powerful plant can still be used today for similar reasons namely, in suppressing the user's appetite. Trimspa is a Thermogenic supplement and stimulates the body's burning of fat, while increasing the metabolism of the adipose tissue. Trimspa also contains caffeine and theobromine, as well as Green Tea, Glucomannan, Cocoa Extract, Vanadium, and Glucosamine. It once contained Ephedra, however newer formulas do not contain any of this alkaloid chemical compound since it was banned in the United States. Trimspa conducted three double-blinded placebo-controlled clinical studies over eight weeks, which were done according to the Institutional Review Board's protocols on its formulas, and it was found that Trimspa taken along with diet and exercise was more effective than diet and exercise alone. The results were an average of 7.03 pounds for Trimspa use, and 1.96 pounds in not using Trimspa.

The Federal Trade Commission recently filed a complaint against Trimspa for making unsupported claims in its advertising, which Trimspa settled by paying a $1.5 million dollar fine. Though some users of Trimspa have lost weight, others have complained about the diet pill, suggesting that it is unusually expensive, it may induce side effects such as anxiety, migraines or insomnia, and may conflict with prescription drugs. Anna Nicole Smith also proved to be more trouble for the company than she was worth as a famous spokesman, since she revealed that she used other health products besides Trimspa to lose weight. Her untimely death did little to improve the company's already shaky reputation. Though Trimspa may be delicious, for some users it may be prove to be "sinful" in its results.
