I'll never forget the first time that I saw him. I had just relocated to a new city, more for a change in environment than the job offer I had received. I had been in the office for a few days but really hadn't chatted with any co-workers because my boss had been dragging me around to show me the ropes.
I had just gotten settled in my cubicle with a stack of files and my morning cappuccino when this gorgeous guy walks in and sits at the cubicle across from mine. He looked my direction and I smiled at him, hoping that he would introduce himself. Instead, he took a sip of his coffee and looked back down at his on stack of files.
A few weeks went by and gradually I got him to talk to me. I had managed to work my way from simple hello to occasional lunches. I had to figure out a way to see him outside of work. "I'm considering buying a house," I told him as I took a bite of a cheeseburger.
"Really," he replied. "That would be a great investment." He should know. At 26 he was already flipping houses on the side.
"Got anything that I might like?"
"Actually, yeah. I can show it to you after work if you'd like."
"Sounds good to me," I replied.
After work, we went to see his latest work in progress. The house was nicer than I had expected. He was adorable, showing me proudly all the little extra details that he had put into the home. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," I answered.
"Are you really interested in this house or me?"
I felt so embarrassed. Before I could even respond we were kissing.
