Teen advice: How to talk to the opposite sex

Talking to the opposite sex is very simple: be yourself. It can be pretty hard being yourself as a teenager because you could be very insecure. I found myself to be pretty insecure as a teenager and I missed out on a lot of things. Back in middle and high school, I did a good job putting up this act as a immature hyperactive psychopath to get people to leave me alone. It worked. However, it hurt my chances of ever getting a girlfriend back in high school.

Then again, I don't regret anything as I took this experience as a valuable learning lesson. I found it hard being myself because I couldn't talk properly. Then again, being yourself isn't easy. But it's the right way to go. You can't go being someone else as people will easily tell. From there, you'll come off as pretty fake.

I myself can be a pretty shy person. I used this persona as a fake mechanism which failed miserably. But the thing is when approaching the opposite sex, be casual about. Do your best to relax. You should be confident and comfortable with yourself. If you can do that, then you're ready to start talking to the opposite sex. How I do it, I'm casual about it. Start off with being acquaintances and friends first.

Do not go rushing off asking a girl to be your girlfriend or a boy to be your boyfriend. In short do not rush things when talking to the opposite sex.

The most important thing when talking with the opposite sex is communication. To be more specific you have to be honest with yourself and that person. Honesty and honesty in communication is key to talking to the opposite sex. But that won't be achieved until you're comfortable with yourself along with self-confidence. Without that, you won't have any honesty with yourself with the opposite sex.

But that doesn't happen overnight. In short, give it time. Evaluate yourself first. If you can be casual about things, then go for it. Work on your self-confidence and work with being comfortable with yourself. The reason I put up this fake persona because I wasn't comfortable with myself and I used it as a coping mechanism.

Be calm, be relaxed, be casual, and be confident. At the same time, don't be a doormat. Sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some. Think of your losses as valuable learning lessons.
