Best talk show hosts

I used to be the type that when the clock struck ten, the PJs were on, the teeth were brushed, and the bed was waiting, where I'd be asleep in seconds.

That was until I met Mr. Ferguson.

I don't even rightly remember when I first started watching "The Late Late Show," but I do know that it was love at first sight. I'd watched the other late night talk shows before: Letterman, Leno, O'Brien. But something about Craig instantly struck a chord with me. It's the way he relates to his audience, and how he makes it look like the most natural thing in the world. It's as though he's sitting right there in your living room, chatting up a topic over a cup of coffee. It's nice to have a talk show host who doesn't seem so distant and robotic.

Even if I'm exhausted, I always, always have to keep myself awake long enough to catch the monologue. If you've never watched one of Craig's monologues, grab a Mountain Dew, chug some coffee, do whatever you can to stay up and watch it. It's definitely worth a few less hours of sleep. He begins with his trademark "It's a great day for America, everybody!" and continues on in whatever direction he's in the mood for, ranging from boy bands to Donald Trump's hair. It's easy on the ears, because you can just tell he hasn't gone over it 100 times and written it down on cue cards. Most of the time it's just rolling right off his tongue as it comes into his mind. It makes it seem like an actual conversation instead of a stiff, well-rehearsed opening speech.

I think the best part about his show is you don't have to worry about what you're going to see. Craig knows when to be funny, and when it's time for something serious. He can tell when an audience is expecting to be rolling on the floor laughing or when they simply want to be comforted. He's very down-to-earth, which makes his personality even more appealing.

In my opinion, Craig Ferguson is the best television show host out there. If I've had a long day, I know just what will cheer me up. With his boyish charm and upbeat attitude, the Amazing Scot of Late Night Television never fails to give me something to smile about before I turn in.
