Notwithstanding the Saskatchewan premier's religious affiliation, the UCC is for all intents and purposes an apostate organization as are many of the older religious institutions because of the rejection of the inerrancy of the Bible.
However, belonging to any church does not automatically make you a christian.
Moving on then. The beiefs that anyone holds as absolutes, regardless of it's basis, will determine what a person will do. This is called a moral compass.
The willingness to let things simply lay, cannot be done if the morality of the person making the decisions, believes that their position is the 'right' postion.
So it doesn't matter what religion you, or anyone else for that matter may espouse, the person making the decisions will vote according to their own moral standards and values.
The NDP's policies and values are anything but close to biblical. And while they have some good things, the things which they hold as fundemental policy, are so much in defiance of things that could be called Christian, that there is no way to make a comfortable peace there for most people.
Now, that being said, I am actively working in BC for direct democracy. Direct democracy relieves the politician from having to make the final decision regarding ANY issue.
In a DIRECT DEMOCRACY, the people control the politicians. The politicians commit themselves to the day to day affairs of state. They can bring in new laws of any kind, but the power to kill any law rests with the people. The people can force new legislation via initiative, which is binding on legislators to enact, and these same voters can repeal and/or replace any law already on the books the same way.
I am told that this is how Switzerland works. Okay that's nice.
But at the end of the day, I and every other politician going in this country, do not have a corner on wisdom. But guess what? The people collectively do. Armed with knowledge people will always do the right thing.
