While the Bible does not specifically mention dating, I believe it does support making sure a potential spouse loves God before committing to marriage. Dating is one way to see this. If your date does not love God and you do, you will find there is no fellowship in the truest sense. II Corinthians 6:14 advises "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?" Dating Biblically means finding someone (single and of the opposite sex!) who shares your faith and values. It also means fleeing youthful lusts by not dressing provocatively and spending too much time alone, where you could give into sex outside of marriage or give the appearance of such to others. The dating couple should respect each other and God. Spend time with friends and family while dating. It's safer, fun and will give the family and friends a chance to get to know your significant other before any marriage takes place. Listen to their opinions on your partner and relationship. Love is blind, and others may see things you don't. Save yourself/ yourselves a lot of heartache by listening when others try to warn you. Proverbs 28:26 (New King James Version) says that "He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered." Your family and friends love you, and you need their wisdom and support in making one of your most important life decisions.
