Invited to a house warming party? Great! Need to choose a gift? No problem, just follow these simple tips.
Tip 1 A gift may be practical or decorative. Remember that it may be difficult to choose decorative gifts if you don't know the new home owners' taste or their ideas about decorating the house. And so, very colorful gifts may fit neither their personal style nor the primary house colors. Therefore, don't buy any decorative pillows, blankets, rugs, kitchen and bathroom towels, curtains, lamps, paintings and posters if you don't know for sure that the hosts will like them.
If you still want to buy something decorative, buy something for yard or garden; you never miss with this choice since many people love to decorate their yards. For the yard, your options are more wide open; you can choose the brightest hues without needing to worry that you have overdone it. For instance, you can choose outdoor solar lights, decorative garden benches, stepping stones, wind chimes, cute welcome signs, or seasonal decorations. Also, don't forget about plants, flowers, bushes, mosaic planters and plant stands. Finally, don't ignore our outdoor friends; a squirrel feeder, bird feeder or bird bath can make a perfect gift too.
Other examples of gift ideas: decorative candles (no scented candles), a wall clock (modern style, no cuckoos), or an electronic clock, a fireplace set, or a trunk or chest box that can be useful for saving memos or seasonal items. You might consider a small decorative fountain for the living room or a beautiful vase for flowers. There are many gift ideas for the kitchen such as a wooden salad bowl, a decorative (colored) cutting board, a Japanese sushi set (if your friends enjoy sushi), nice looking beer, or wine glasses, or a set of silverware.
If you buy a house warming gift for young people who still don't have many things, you may consider buying a small kitchen appliance such as a toaster, a microwave, a mixer, a food processor, dinnerware, or a small piece of furniture (can be Amish made), but make sure that they don't have it already. If you know that they have casual dinnerware, consider buying something unusual and unique, e.g. set of square dishes or a glass canap tray from Mikasa.
Tip 2 When you choose a gift for a house warming party, try to buy something that owners can use around the house. However, because people prefer different brands, or can be allergic, personal hygiene items are taboo. So, don't buy soap, shampoo,
