What?! You think you can just stumble on up to any microphone, spew a meager fistful of dirty nursery rhyme, and earn the noble and mystic title of MC? You think that simply due to your stereotypical gangster ramblings and pseudo violent imitation psychobabble, feebly attempting to instill but one iota of petty fear into those that surround, that you may rightfully take the throne? Well, think again. In your mind, you may rock the title proper, but in practice, you are a fool. No offense, but it is an ancient saying that "to know a man, listen to his words". Aside from a motley sampling of verbal maestros and textual sorcerers, the realm of hip hop is but a mangled sham. It is the very ones who claim hip hop that are slowly poisoning the scene with monologues of rancor and soliloquies of hate and toxic repetitive destruction. To know a man, listen to his words...All else will become crystal clear in time.
Listen close, friends. You just may learn something...
Way back when, anyone could spew a line and the results would be taken like a pill:relaxed and easygoing without a care in the world. Even the worst was a shining moment of light when held side to side with the darkness that plagues the rap horizons with eclipses of doom these days. Rap is not a lifestyle. Rap is not a hobby, nor is it a method to spew one's mind blindly and ignorantly like one who is suffering from some sort of rhythmic tourettes. Oh no! Rap is a tool. It gets the dominos rolling. Musicians must act with the surgical precision of doctors and choose their words with the collected and enlightened accuracy like the Dalai Lama wearing Fubu. This must be understood as deep as a heroin syringe mainlined straight to the vein. When people step up to the Mic with lungs full of air, brain loaded with adrenaline, and soul infested with words, there is only time for impeccable voice. When someone has something to say, people will listen. Be their message either psychotic, mentally challenged, or even brilliant and inspiring. People will listen. Then people will follow footsteps. Do you want to lead the people into the vistas of an exotic heaven or do would you rather lead the sheep straight off a cliff to certain painful and gripping death?
What are you really saying with your words? Is this how you want to be heard? When your words go down forever, engraved upon the spirit of the collective unconscious for all eternity, is this what you want to tell people? With what could be your last moment alive
