America is the land
Of the free
And the home of
A million flaws

As I type this
A young man kills
Himself
Because he has no money
For his medication

A woman marries a
Man for money
But a man
Cannot marry a man
For love

Right now
Someone is being arrested
For cannabis possession
While a murderer walks
The streets
Free

Cancer and poverty claim
The poor
All the while
A celebrity
Bitches about the wrong caviar
In their deluxe mansion

Two men sit in a room
One is 25
Rich from his parents
The other is 18
Poor, but filled with promise
Guess which one gets shot in
A war?

The ones in power
Sleep on king mattresses
Watching us waste away
